About the program
The AI4H-AI/ML academy is an Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning bootcamp aimed at equipping you with the skills and knowledge needed to excel in this rapidly growing field. This immersive program covers theoretical knowledge and practical skill-building in 2months (9 weeks), helping you to become a confident practitioner.
You should expect to learn how to build proficiency in popular frameworks and tools such as Python, Pandas, TensorFlow, etc., preparing you for roles such as AI Engineer, ML Engineer, Data Scientist, Analyst, and much more.
At the end of the training program, you will be required to apply the AI/ML practical skills and knowledge to develop any ideas/solution, prototypes and MVPs through a 2 Months Ideation, innovation and business incubation training and support, where you will have a chance to qualify for seed funding (up to USD 4,000) to enable further development, launch and testing your Minimum with real users.

- Early-stage tech-entrepreneurs (individuals) with AI/ML-focused innovations across sectors (such as healthcare, agriculture, fintech, climate).
- Researchers and students exploring development commercialization of AI/ML prototypes.
Program Components
- Technical training in AI/ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, MLOps, etc.).
- Data resources, APIs, and sandbox environments for AI/ML experimentation.
- Prototyping facilities for hardware-integrated AI solutions (IoT, robotics).
- Access to cloud computing resources and AI toolkits.
- Access to AI/ML technical mentors (data scientists, ML engineers, researchers).
- Business model design and validation.
- Intellectual property (IP) advisory and legal compliance.
- Go-to-market strategy, customer discovery, and sales pipeline development.
- Business mentors with sector-specific experience.
- Seed funding grants or for high-potential viable ideas and prototypes.
- Demo days to pitch to judging/review panel.

Eligibility Criteria
- The applicant can be Ugandan or non-Ugandan having a residing in Uganda.
- Are at least 18 years or older.
- Language – Proficiency in English (written and spoken).
Education Level
- Minimum of a diploma, degree or equivalent in ICT, computer science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, or a related fields.
- Exceptional applicants with strong self-taught or practical experience may be considered even without formal academic qualifications.
Technical Skills
- Basic programming knowledge (Python preferred) and familiarity with algorithms or statistics.
- Interest or background in data analysis, software development, or machine learning concepts is an added advantage.
Innovation & Problem-Solving Orientation
- Interest in applying AI/ML skills to solve real-world challenges in sectors such as agriculture, healthcare, education, fintech, environment, or logistics.
- Evidence of past projects, entrepreneurial ventures, or community initiatives is a plus.
Equipment & Connectivity
- Access to a laptop with at least 4GB RAM.
- Ability to access reliable internet for online engagements.
Commitment & Availability
- Must commit to attending all sessions (online and/or in-person) for the entire duration of the bootcamp.
